let's face it - in the age of technology, of course we can keep track of appointments on our smart phones. but that's never been the sole purpose of wall (& desk!) calendars -- they are art! they have beautiful designs that change with the months, just as you might be starting to get bored of a particular page (it's as if they know you & your moods!). they add color to a work space or kitchen; they brighten up a dreary or daunting day; they can become like a theme song for a month... take a look at some of the gorgeous designs we have in stock!
{two trick pony "a year of type"; urban bark wall calendar; egg press desk calendar; susyjack* wall, grid & desk calendars; rifle paper co year, large wall "botanical," and small wall "fruit" calendars; linda & harriet "watercolor" & "letterpress" calendars; snow & graham wall art, grid, desk, and accordion calendars; paper source wall art, grid, desk, and accordion calendars}
remember that you can call to place an order for anything you see on our blog, even if it's not on our website! (and let us save you the trouble... none of these calendars are!) 434.979.6366 they're going quick!
2 late additions to the lineup from Hammerpress with tear-off calendar:

do you celebrate movember? in the month formerly known as November, men around the world will sprout hairs above their lip (and beyond) to raise funds and awareness of men's health issues, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
as a women-owned business, we can't exactly grow mustaches, but want to participate in the cause for the many men in our life that we love (don't take that the wrong way, we mean brothers, fathers, husbands, friends, etc.), so here's our mustache contribution (all available at rock paper scissors):
from left to right: typestache poster from Old Tom Foolery; letterpress note papers from Dempsey Press; mustache erasers from Kikkerland (photo courtesy of gifts.com); the mustache growers guide with 2 sample inside pages (soon to be back in stock!); "we go together like mustaches and creeps" from Sapling Press; and "congrats on the little man" card from Sugarcube Press.
rock paper scissors is also helping to sponsor the movember party being held at Boylan Heights on Sunday, November 13 starting at 6pm, also in honor of Starr Hill's 11th Birthday. find out more on their facebook page. prizes will be awarded for categories such as miss movember, ultimate mo, lame mo, best celebrity mo, among others.
want to learn more about this great cause? read more from the movember site (i couldn't say it any better than this):
once registered at www.movember.com, men start Movember 1st clean shaven. for the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
at the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.

we're all in denial... but folks, consider this your wake up call: the holidays are around the corner! and you know what december 1 means --- advent calendars! the kids are sick of the same one you've used for years, it's time to spruce it up!
try this paper one from Mr. Boddington's Studio. little boxes open up to fun drawings of things like puppies, diamond rings, caviar, sports cars, and dollar bills among other things. turn it into an activity and have the children write a story about the drawing they see; or have them draw the items on their own wish list!
learn some fun holiday tidbits each day with this advent calendar from Oblation Papers out in Oregon (love these folks: "letterpress printed with soy inks on recycled paper made with wind power!)... something to look forward to in the in the dark wintery days leading up to the bright light of Christmas! did you know that the Gingerbread Man was conceived by Queen Elizabeth I, in the likeness of her guests, circa 1590? do you know when to celebrate "National Chocolate-covered Anything day"? what the gifts of the Magi represent? how to make a Hot Toddy? you will....
this next one folks requires some creativity on your part, adults. leave choclates or candies, a sweet note, instructions for a new game, a fond holiday memory, etc. in each of these little pull out boxes. it's sure to make a december you won't forget!
Note: if ever you see something on a blog post that doesn't appear available for purchase on our website, just give us a call and we'd happily process your order over the phone the old school way! 434.979.6366.
