introducing wesley jay haynie... ok, you got us, we're a little late - it's exactly 1 week until his first birthday, but don't i get a pass for being a new moms? something about better late than never? it may be cliche, but it's so true: they grow up so fast! and just to prove our point, here's a recent pic of wes, almost 1 year later... walking!
from the baby shower invitations (designed by dani antol and printed by page stationery),
to the birth announcements, hand-drawn by hers truly and letterpressed in gray ink on 760gsm holyoke premium cotton cards (can you hear the awe in my voice?), edge stained in yellow...
it was a no brainer that wes was inclined to like paper... when presented with a colorful toy or a piece of paper, the paper always wins. good choice, son, you're learning well!
oh wait, what's that? you haven't heard "the birth story" yet? that's right, harris (the dad) missed the birth of his son, wes. and yes, dani (the business partner, pictured above), was in the OR for the delivery (wes was frank breech). and yes, we had to answer lots of questions to clarify the type of "partner" she was. but "aunt dani", as she is affectionately called, did an excellent job calming heather and welcoming wes into the world.
dad arrived 45 minutes later after getting back from the richmond airport and an unnecessary business trip that he was "getting out of the way" before his son arrived. after all, wes arrived 2 weeks early on friday, february 1st, 2013 at 12:04 am, weighing 6 lbs, 2 oz, measuring 19.25" long. mom & dad are overjoyed..even if we are "announcing" this online almost 1 year later, we're still overjoyed! (wes was named after his great great grandfather (Elmer Wesley Wiggins) and grandfather (John Jay McNulty), both on his mom's side.)
Birdie has no birth announcement either. This post just made my day! Thank you! And the announcements are worth the wait :)
