It's official! Spring is here, and at Rock Paper Scissors we couldn't be more excited to welcome one of our favorite months of the year. We've got a lot going on in April, kicking off National Letter Writing Month and the first installment of our Ten Percent Tuesdays, Paper for a Cause campaign in 2017.
10% Tuesdays: Paper for a Cause - The charitable campaign now embarking on its third year, will kick off at Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) on Tuesday, April 4. Throughout the month of April, RPS will donate 10% of total sales made on Tuesdays toward University of Virginia’s Neuroscience research department, earmarked for Parkinson’s disease research. Since the launch of 10% Tuesdays, RPS has donated more than $2,000 toward local organizations tied to causes that hold special meaning for co-owners Heather Haynie and Dani Antol. Dani's father suffers from Parkinson's and for a disease that can make those impacted feel hopeless, dedicating RPS's charitable initiative toward Parkinson's research plays a small part in fostering hope.
National Letter Writing Month - It seems like there is a "National fill-in-the-blank day/week/month" for everything. But, in a world of constant communication, fewer things are said and misunderstandings happen more often than not. The ladies of Rock Paper Scissors are taking the opportunity to encourage Charlottesville to write letters to loved ones in honor of National Letter Writing Month this April by giving away letter writing kits to 10 lucky customers.
